About Mike...

Hey there! My name is Mike and I am an avid postcard sender/receiver. I look forward to interacting with cool and awesome people who share the same passions and interests in postcards as I do.

Before we get too far along, I would like to say something. I've noticed that a number of people on here say that they do not want "handmade/homemade" postcards, or want "real" postcards. I'm a little perturbed by that. While I will admit that everyone has their own ideas as far as what a "real" postcard is, to me, a real postcard is something that can be sent in the mail and something that I can physically hold. And whether that is a postcard that one buys in a store, a homemade one, or even just a basic card that can travel through the mail system without damage, is real enough for me.

I make all of my postcards; either painted or drawn with crayons or colored pencils. The subjects for my postcards are usually scenes I find in nature, cityscapes and sometimes plain objects that I think are interesting for a still-life drawing. In short, they are family friendly and normal; nothing inappropriate or offensive. I make them ahead of time and then sign up to see who will get them later on, so there's a 99% chance that if I receive your name and address through Postcrossing, you will receive one of my postcards. PLEASE REGISTER IT! Whether or not you like homemade cards, you still must register it. After that, you can do what will with it. But honestly, if someone spends a significant amount of time making a GOOD piece of mail art, you can at least appreciate the effort the person put into making it. I spend 45 minutes to an hour on each of my postcards, which takes a lot of effort to do. If you want to throw it out, that's on you. Just remember that not everyone has the means to send you what you want in a postcard. And for those of you who make demands on what you don't want in a postcard, I suggest reading point #3 in the "About" page for Postcrossing, under the heading, "On Using Your Account" in the Community Guidelines. You're not supposed to demand what you want or don't want in a postcard. If you feel a "card" is not appropriate for Postcrossing, you can report it. But last I checked, this doesn't apply for homemade cards. Just saying...

I'm not trying to be terse about this. I'm just saying that we all should be more open about the project. It's supposed to be fun, not some nick-picky school assignment where we can demand what we want or don't want. Whatever postcards you decide to send me, I'll be okay with. And I will register all postcards that I receive, even if I don't like them. Let us all do this and have fun. :)

As I said, I welcome all postcards. Feel free to tell me something interesting about your country; lifestyle, landscape, architecture, etc.
I hope to learn more about your country and customs through your postcard! And I will do my best to portray mine through my HOMEMADE postcards! :) Happy Postcrossing!
