Hello World,

My name is Alies and I'm 87 years old, yes you read it right, eighty-seven. I've had a full and wonderful life so far, and I'm still going strong, mentally as well as physically (thank God).
I was orphaned at age 12 when my parents were both killed in the World War II bombing on Berlin, and lived in an orphanage until I was 18. I then met my husband who was a successful musician, he played thousands of gigs with his own band (oh the fun we had). We opened a hotel together, which we sold when we retired and bought a boat which became our home for many years. Needless to say that I've seen a big part of the world.
We were married for 61 years until he passed away 7 years ago. We did not have any children, but I do have a lot of fantastic friends with whom I spend many hours chatting, walking, shopping, etc. Every winter I spend 6 months in Spain, I love the sun shining on my face, it makes me happy.
I love all kinds of animals, but especially dogs. I take care of my neighbor's dog when they go on holiday. I work as a volunteer in a Animal Charity Shop to raise money for abandoned dogs / cats.
