This is the first ski area in North America to allow snowboarding and they have annual celebrations. The famous Ski to Sea Race is started with the downhill event and the second leg is cross country skiing, before cycling, running, canoeing, mountain biking and the final portion with kayaking across Bellingham Bay and ending with the bell ringing and party in Fairhaven.
