Trinity and Kutafia towers

The tower was built in 1495 and served as the western gate of the Kremlin. It's last name was received by a special tsarist decree in 1658 on Troitskaya metochion [ecclesiastical embassy church], which was in the Kremlin near the tower. At the gates of the tower there were solemn meetings of Russian soldiers returning from the long marches.

The tower is located in a low place, at the very edge of the Neglinnaya River, so it had a massive base, deep in the ground. In front of the tower, a deflecting strelnitsa with gates and loopholes was built. And across the Neglinnaya River a stone bridge with a bridgehead - Kutafia - was moved. At the end of the 17th century, the Trinity Tower was built on a high hipped roof with numerous white stone ornaments. The Trinity Tower had a large clock with a bell ringing, which existed already in 1585. After the fire of 1812, they were not restored.

The height of the tower with a star from the side of the Alexander Garden - 80 meters
