During the winters, the deities fromn Kedarnah temple are brought 1 to Ukhimath and worshipped there for six months. The temple is not directly1 accessible by road and has to be reached by a 14 kilometres (8.7 mi) uphill tre from Gaurikund. It is one of the twelve Jyotilingas (self-manifest shrines of Shiva)
