I got this postcard from the Canadian Pacific Spirit Train Campaign on Thanksgiving 2008 in Mississauga. A train travelled across Canada to raise awareness about the upcoming Olympics. Canadian musicians preformed (such as the 4 Tenors) and Hazel McCallion, Mississauga's famous 88 year old mayor, spoke about how happy she was to host. Kids could build a wooden innukshuk and get it signed by 5 Canadian medalists, plus see their medals. There were simulations and games to try, like bobsled, downhill skiing, and wheelchair hockey. Local buisnessess even came and gave out samples of soups and foods, and groups sent video messages to cheer on our Olympians! It was a great event. |

Amazing! What a great way to get everyone excited and involved in the upcoming Olympics!!! I really wish I had've applied to one of the torch carrying contests, but I was convinced that there were going to be so many more people out there more worthy than me ... oh well, I'm still super excited anyway and can't wait for the games to begin :) |

I signed up for the torch bearing contest...I don't think I'll win. I organized a schoolwide school cleanup. It was worthwhile anyways. |
