About gruselkatze...

Hello,
I'm a happily single mom from northern Germany who just loves Postcrossing. I first came across the concept via an otherwise completely useless women's magazine named "Petra". I'll never buy another issue of "Petra", but I'll always be grateful for finding out about this project. My favourite part of Postcrossing is looking at the profiles and finding (or trying to find) the perfect card for this person. :) On a related note, I never cease to be amazed at the way something so fundamentally simple as a postcard can turn an otherwise pretty awful day around -- I know it's happening to me on a regular basis (so a big thank-you to all you great people out there!).

I'm also into books (dark, funny, scary), music (dark, gloomy, weird), movies (weird, funny, scary), museums, local folklore/ghost stories/urban legends, art, squirrel-watching, have been a vegetarian since I was 12, and I just love my hometown of Hamburg. I've lived in the US and the UK for what feels like an eternity but really was only a decade, as a result of which I realized that I'm one of those rare people who hate to travel.

As for postcards, if you can help it please don't send self-made or typical tourist/city viewcards, unless they're really unusual cards -- I love retro stuff, so if it's a viewcard from the 60's to 80's, I'd be very happy to receive it. Or if it features something supremely tacky/ugly. Or all of the above! Fantastic!!!
Also, if you're from the Juneau, AK area, could you *please* send me a Patsy Ann card? I just ♥ Patsy Ann (http://www.patsyann.com/story/index.htm).
Or, if you're in the DC area, I'd LOVE a picture of Owney the US Mail dog!

Other favourites:

--bull terriers
--Jetoy cats, Lancy cats
--Inge Löök's old ladies (I'm so predictable :)
--Chinese New Year
--if you're from an area that's associated with some kind of weird, possibly/probably or even definitely fake creature, e.g. Nessie, the Jersey Devil, Bigfoot or the Wolpertinger, I'd REALLY like a picture of it
--the Chernobyl region or other deserted industrial landmarks
--I love exaggerated postcards/tall tale postcards (http://museum.msu.edu/museum/tes/talltale/Masters.html)
--something to do with folklore, local customs or fairy tales, etc., especially if you're from an Eastern European country
--dressed-up animals, animals in costume or photoshopped animals, the weirder the better :)
--Florentijn Hofman's Giant Rubber Duckie (http://www.florentijnhofman.nl/dev/project.php?id=190)
--Coca Cola polar bears
--dollhouses
--zombies, ghosts, monsters, mutants etc.
--red squirrels, foxes, otters, badgers, panda, salamanders, opossums, manatees
--Postcrosser aus dem Freistaat Bayern: Murmeltiere sind immer gut, besonders solche in Lederhosen oder mit Bierkrug :)
--stone circles, standing stones, prehistoric landmarks & the like
--landscapes typical of your region
--multiples, map cards or educational cards

Thank you, and happy Postcrossing!
