About gruselkatze...

Hello,
I'm a happily single mom from northern Germany who just loves Postcrossing. I first came across the concept in the pages of an otherwise completely useless women's magazine named "Petra". I'll never buy another issue of "Petra", but I'll always be grateful for finding out about Postcrossing. :)
I'm also into books (dark, funny, scary), music (dark, gloomy, weird), movies (weird, funny, scary), museums, local folklore/ghost stories/urban legends, art, squirrel-watching, have been a vegetarian since I was 12, and I just love my hometown of Hamburg. I've lived in the US and the UK for what feels like an eternity but really was only a decade, as a result of which I realized that I'm one of those rare people who hate to travel. I'll go on weekend trips to destinations in Germany or northern(ish) Europe, but the idea of spending two or more weeks in some supposedly "exotic" locale just gives me goosebumps.

As for postcards, well, I’m NOT a fan of viewcards. At all. Sorry. I'm just not that interested in what other cities look like (see above). I do love retro stuff, though, so if it's a viewcard from the 60's to 80's, I'd be very happy to receive it. Or if it features something supremely ugly. Or both! Fantastic!!!

Other favourites:

--Jetoy cats!!! :)
--Inge Löök's old ladies!!! :)
--Moomin, Miffy/Nijntje or Bamse
--bull terriers, red squirrels, foxes, otters, badgers, salamanders or opossums
--if you're from an area that's associated with some kind of weird, possibly/probably (or even definitely) fake creature, like for example Nessie, the Jersey Devil, Bigfoot or the Wolpertinger, I'd REALLY like a picture of it.
--dressed-up animals, animals in costume or photoshopped animals, the weirder the better – think (or google) “Mr. Potter's Museum of Curiosities” as a prime, if a tad extreme example. :)
--zombies, ghosts, monsters, mutants etc.
--stone circles, standing stones, prehistoric landmarks & the like
--subway maps or other public transportation maps (except NYC and London)

Generally speaking, I love cards that are beautiful, strange, spooky, funky, kitschy, tacky, off-beat, of questionable taste and/or just plain "different". One caveat: my kid loves to collect the mail, so please stay away from the "sexy" cards. ;)

Also, please no ad or free cards or religious stuff, or cards from places you've been to but don't actually live at (i.e. the famous "holiday leftovers").

Thank you, and happy Postcrossing!
