About Arianne...
I am a Canadian photographer, artist and full time student (Cultural Anthropology and History with a focus on Native American Cultures), currently living on a small island on the west coast of the USA.
I prefer postcards which are unique-- and especially cards which show something about the sender.
The only cards that I generally don't like to receive are the 'typical touristy' types-- viewcards, etc.
Recently I'm loving:
Tacky/campy postcards (either featuring old ad campaigns, vintage film publicity shots or 1920s-1960s celebrities-- anything in poor taste/questionable/funny is welcome!)
Pin up art
Black and white photographs
First Nations art
Postcards featuring textiles (fabric, fibre, ceramics, beads etc)
Anything to do with knitting or crochet (I love Amigurumi!)
Beautiful scripts (Persian, Russian-- really anything that is unusual compared to English script)
Wartime photography
Images of Cassette Tapes
Retro Fashion and dress patterns
Postcards featuring vibrant colours and textures
Postcards showing street photography (life captured unaware)
Unique airports or train stations
If you're a crafty person, I would love to receive a handmade card!
**If you are not sure of what to write:
The little icons printed on newspapers that show the date and weather of the city where you live-- if you could paste this onto the back of your card, I would be thrilled! (here's an example: http://pics.blameitonthevoices.com/032011/small_the%20weather.jpg)
Names-- it would be great to hear the meaning or history of your name (first, surname or both!), maybe why your parents chose it for you.
An interesting conversation that you overheard.
A dream that you had recently-- maybe it was strange, funny or scary?
Do you have a habit that you wish that you could break?
Describe your ideal day, if money weren't a consideration.

Have a look at the Post-Secret project: http://www.postsecret.com/
If you would like to send me a secret on a postcard, I would love it. Of course, I would not publish any information about your 'secrets' on this site.
I love interesting words-- in all languages! If you could choose one word to describe yourself, what would it be and why?
What is one important lesson that you have learned in your life?
Tell me something about an interesting book that you have read recently-- I am always looking for suggestions on what to read next.
If you have traveled, I would love to hear about interesting places/accommodations/restaurants/experiences.
I would absolutely love it if you were able to send along some local advertisements, fliers, newspaper bits, maps, tickets, notes or other paper oddments that are unique to your corner of the world.
Please have a peek at my favourite postcards-- there are quite a few, and they are extremely varied.
