About Lisa...
I thought Postcrossing would be a fun thing to try. Life is so much busier now (2 kids, a hubby, 5 pets plus a tankful of fish), but I can make time to send a postcard or two. I love animals, and just about anything nature. I love teaching kids not to be afraid of nature or at the very least, to respect nature and see the amazing beauty in it.
I hated learning about other countries in school; it was always about something negative (wars, slavery, imprisonment/torture, etc.) & the textbook's definition of history (& I believe alot of history in the textbooks, like politics, is biased). It was never anything fun like Postcrossing is! I'm learning so many things and now know where many different countries are located! When I eventually travel overseas,I have so many things to look forward to seeing, it's going to be so hard to choose where to go!
I love animation cards (anything cartoons!) & especially funny cards. I've seen alot of profiles say "no ad cards"; some of the best postcards I've received have been ad cards. Send them on - postage is expensive enough, if you get a free card - use it! I'm happy to receive it. :) If it's a language other than English, maybe you can translate. If it's too much, I can always use Google Translate.
I would love for you to tell me something unique to your area Trust me; something that is commonplace in another country - is going to be new to me! Don't fear writing something so simple that you think it would offend - it won't. Tell me what the children's schools are like - what grades they go up to ..., local things - does your town have an annual parade or a special celebration for something (in a town nearby, they have an annual grits festival - I can proudly say I've never attended), is your area known for making a product? I'd love for you to share a favorite food recipe. What are fun things to do in your area? Do you have kids and/or pets? If you have alot to tell, you can send a letter with photos of local places/attractions instead of a postcard (it'll still get registered)! Something that you think might be trivial would probably be very interesting. I'm not easily offended by anything, so be honest. :)
These are all just suggestions, I will be happy with whatever card you send (even one you make!) or some pictures of your area you took yourself.
The postmark date isn't always stamped clearly. If you could, kindly put the date on the postcard and I'll try to remember to do the same with the ones I send out from now on. Thank you and
Happy Postcrossing!!
P.S. I'm not a stamp collector, but I love seeing all the different stamps from around the world - no need to send in an envelope - I think postmarked stamps on a postcard adds character! I alway try to use as many different stamps as I can when mailing a postcard - Of course, just up to what the postage is to mail the postcard.
