I'm Ali and I live in sunny/rainy/snowy Scotland, and we have lots of lovely postcards, I look forward to sending them to everyone! I love travelling, hillwalking, being outdoors, sailing; also reading and movies when I'm indoors. Cupcakes, homebaking, knitting, vintage things, pretty dresses, old buildings, wood burning fires...
I work in a university and my degree was in Arabic and Middle East studies.
I LOVE New Zealand after spending a year there, so any cards from there will make me weepy and nostalgic and happy ; )!
I would prefer NOT to recieve free advertising cards (stylish retro ones are cool though) or conventional multiviews as I already have a lot.
I also prefer real stamps, no envelopes and a nice message telling me what you love about your country and why you chose this postcard...
*I like postcards with fantastic, romantic, dramatic themes - whats the most beautiful view or romantic place in your country? Waterfalls, moonlight, Paris at night, stunning landscapes, sunsets and sunrises with interesting light and vivid colours, Aurora/Northern lights, dancing, Venetian masquerade, festivals, tropical paradise, stars and constellations, planets etc (I'm Saggitarius), dramatic mountains scenes (eg. Himalayas, Pyrenees, Rockies), single views of spectacularly gothic castles and cathedrals...whatever you imagine.
*My favourite painting is Klimt's The Kiss - I like any art of the same theme.
*Any postcards of Far Eastern or Middle Eastern culture from ancient times/pre 20th century, Aboringinal or Native American/FirstNation art,Viking/Nordic/Scandinavian myths and legends.
*Any funny, sarcastic, satirical postcards.
*Cards with recipes on them.
*Koalas, seahorses, kiwis, pandas, tigers, budgerigars, Spanish water dogs or wildcats....any animals really (not cartoons though).
*I really really love traditional sailing ships and steamships (no modern style boats please!)especially tall ships/square riggers, lighthouses, anything nautical, windmills, towers, medieval/ancient ruins, canal boats. Older planes and trains too. Military uniforms and men in uniform. Also very old fashioned maps!
Thanks so much for you postcard, whatever it may be! Whatever it is, I'm sure I'll love it.
I'm not doing any more direct swaps at the moment, low on funds!
