About Rich...

I'm 40, married, with a three year old little girl who is spectacular, and a senior citizen Collie who is very dignfied and respectable (sadly, though I can't bear to edit her out of this, our collie has passed away. She is greatly missed). Between helping take care of the family, working and trying to keep our home maintained, hobbies kind of fall by the wayside, though I am gearing up to start collecting postcards, with a special emphasis on Great Lakes shipping and shipwrecks. I do enjoy American football (big Chicago Bears fan, but sick of football and disgusted after this year's loss to the loathsome Packers), baseball (spring training 2011, still hope for the Cubs), cooking, and beer. Did I mention beer? I read a lot, including mysteries, adventure novels, horror and sci-fi, your basic escapist stuff. My current favorite books seem to be Scandinavian mysteries/police procedurals--I enjoy authors Henning Mankell, Stieg Larsson, Karin Fossum, and Hakan Nesser. Lately I have been doing a lot of my "reading" via podcast. Recently, I also seem to be interested in shipwrecks. Can't quite figure that one out. . . . .Have gotten more into my Wii lately, I really enjoy playing World of Goo, old games like Galaga and 1942.

If possible, I am interested in cards that show older/historic things, as well as ships/nautical scenes. That being said, please do not feel obligated to look for these kinds of cards or feel bad if you do not have one. Each and every card is a pleasure to receive, and I like getting them all. Ad cards are just fine if that is what you have, and I especially enjoy homemade cards if that is what you like to do. My point is that any card you send is welcome, and I will look forward to getting it!!

If you can't think of anything to say, no worries--tell me a joke that you like from your own country. Indeed, please include a joke if you can, I really enjoy the ones I have received so far.

Of late I must apologize to all. I have regrettably not attended to registering and responding to cards as promptly as the senders deserve, and I apologize to all that were affected by this. Things are better at the moment, so I plan to get back into the swing of Postcrossing in good standing!
