About Emily...

Hey hey hello!

Nice to meet you! I'm Emily and I live in Ohio. I'm a librarian at a university library and I love my job! I feel so lucky to have found work in my desired field.

Right now I'm studying for my master's degree in history. I'm researching the intersection of the representation of Maid Marian as a character in Robin Hood novels, plays, films, etc, and how it reflects women's history through the centuries.

I lived in Japan for three years in Yamagata Prefecture on the coast; Sakata City is what I now call my "Japanese hometown." I worked as an English teacher there through the JET Program. I moved back to the United States in 2020. There are days when I'm still horribly homesick.

Things I'm passionate about include Robin Hood mythos and media, bears, books, history, art, vintage fashion and style, the environment and nature, lesbian history and media, other cultures, among other things.

Here are a few postcard prompts if you're not sure what to write! Send a recipe that you love, tell me about where you grew up, the last book you read, or if you've traveled to Japan you can tell me about where you went and what you enjoyed.

Please send me any postcard you think I might enjoy! However, below are the kinds of postcards I would be ecstatic to have in my mailbox:

-Any Robin Hood related postcard would be especially appreciated!! I have a passion for Robin Hood mythos and media, so I would love to have a small collection of related postcards!!
-Bears (the animal, not teddy bears or other toys)
-Vintage photography
-Japan (preferably not anime)
-Renaissance and Pre-Raphealite art (or any art!)
-Illustrations
-Fashion history
-Libraries and bookstores
-Book illustrations
-Traditional and local food/drink
-Depictions of traditional culture from your country
-LGBTQ themes (especially lesbian)
