Arabel-Inez(or Astrid) is a member in Netherlands . She has been a member for over 4 years (1,649 days).
I am Astrid, I am a teacher, but I don't work at school anymore, I work at home and homeschool our youngest child. I love children and education. I am married for over 34 years and we have 7 children, one daughter, the oldest, and 6 sons. Four of them are married, we have 4 grandsons and 2 granddaughters. Lord willing, grandchild number 7 will be born this summer.
My avatar is the schoohouse I went to from my 4th birthday until I was 12 and a half years old. I like schoolhouses/schoolbuildings/classrooms and where I live or go to I look for them and I visit, if possible, a museum of education, sometimes housed in an old schoolhouse. I am quite curieus how your schoolyears were, did you like going to school, what materials did you use? Etc.
Currently we live in Gouda. Before we lived in Belgium, and before that we lived in a lot of places in the Netherlands, we moved, starting with our marriage, 8 times. And probably this place will not be our last home ;-) I like it to have lived in so many places, met new people, have new surroundings etc. Allthough I like the moving, with the years it is getting more difficult to leave every thing behind and start all over again in a new place. But when time comes I'll get the strenght to move on.
Since I am a Christian (protestant), my favorite slogan is inspired on the Bible: "Joy, being happy, is a choice you make every day". I love reading the Bible, a few of my favorite Scriptures are Psalm 23:1 (my wedding sermon Scripture), Matthew 9:22 (I am called daughter), Genesis 1:31c (all God made was very good), Collossions 3:3-4 (we are saved by Jesus, He is our live and we will live with Him forever). If you are interested you can read them in the Bible. I am very interested in your favorite Scriptures.
In my spare time my favorites are baking sweets, reading books, playing boardgames, and searching for our family tree for more ancestors. I am always on the lookout to learn something new, like a new language, or about the Bible and its content, or about history and countries, I even like to learn country states. Once on a day I did learn the provinces of China. Maybe I never use it, but it was fun to learn them.
Whatever card you find to send me, I will like, beause I like sending and getting mail ;-). Thanks for taking the time to search, write and send a card to me, I appreciate that very much. I am looking forward to see the mailman coming and find out what you picked to send me.
Blessings to you.
