About Janis...

Don't let the cowboy hat fool you. I'm a true blue city girl except during the annual 10 day celebration that put my current hometown on the map, the Calgary Stampede! Calgary is also known for its close proximity to Banff National Park and for being the host city for the 1988 Winter Olympics.

At one time in my life, I was an avid traveller and was fortunate enough to visit many beautiful cities around the globe. Then life happened and starting a family has grounded me for the near future. Not forever though, and I can't wait to show the world to my child when the time is right. Lucky for me, I happened to stumble across this community and can now try to fulfill a bit of my wanderlust through some beautiful and interesting postcards. As well, I can take this opportunity to begin showing the world to my daughter.

I would love to receive the following postcards:
- something beautiful to see in your city/country
- historic/retro/50's inspired/Elvis/rockabilly/tiki
- gothic, dark, Halloween, fantasy, dragons, castles, Medieval
- famous or influential women
- ghost stories/folklore
- music
- waterfalls
- local birds or interesting animals/spiders, snakes and creepy crawlies
- funny, punny, weird or tacky
- the ocean, beaches, seahorses, sharks
- literature

It would be nice to hear about some interesting facts about your city. I'd find it fun to read a "top three" list about your home such as top three sites to visit, current musicians or songs, favorite authors, famous people born close by, or something random that you think would be entertaining or informative. Or maybe tell me about a favorite national holiday and what its significance is. Or a perception of what Canada is like that if you have never visited before. The more creative or unusual, the better.

I'm also looking forward to sharing this experience with my daughter so would love to receive postcards with pictures and/or facts that would appeal to a younger school age child.

Also, if you have a little one yourself, I would love to see their artistic side with a drawing. Then they could say they are an internationally acclaimed artist because whatever they design, i will love my personal masterpiece.

Thank you and happy posting!
