About Lisa...

I live in Michigan, USA. AKA- The Mitten State. (Look at a map and you will understand why. In fact- when you are from Michigan you hold your hand up to show where you are from; we carry our own map!) I love to travel and learn about the world. I teach high school English and history and have done so for 26 years. I have a great husband and a little boy. Besides travel I love to write, read, golf, cook, and spend time with my family. My favorite sports teams are the Chicago Cub (got engaged at Wrigley Field), the Green Bay Packers, and the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame.

I very much love to camp in tents. I own five different tents. While we actually have a cabin along a beautiful river in the northern part of Michigan, I prefer the wind in the trees you hear while in a tent. Each year I do a solo camping trip where I can just enjoy alone time and nature. Of course I always have a huge pile of books as well. I am an introvert with bursts of a spontaneous social life.

My home town of Jackson is not a tourist destination because it is located in the middle of the state. The beautiful beaches draw the most tourists, but it is a nice place to grow up and now it is a nice place to raise our son. There are some interesting things about our small city (population around 35,000). At one point it was the home of the largest walled prison in the world. Now it is still a prison and oddly enough a museum. That shows some creativity. Jackson is considered to be one of the birth places of the Republican party in 1854. This would be President Lincoln's Republican party which means it was originally founded as a group promoting an anti-slavery platform. What each parties' platform is now would not fit on a postcard! A few famous people have made Jackson home. James Earl Jones (the voice of Darth Vader) lived here as a child, Karch Kiraly, the winner of three Olympic medals in volleyball, was born here. Even though it is a pretty small town we have had two NASA astronauts, James McDivitt and Alfred Worden, who were associated with the Gemini and Apollo space programs. Tony Dungy, the first African-American NFL football coach to win a Super Bowl grew up here as well and graduated from a local high school. All in all it is a pretty nice place.

Favorite Authors- John Connolly, David Baldacci, Stephen Donaldson, Lee Childs, Robert Galbreath (J.K. Rowling), Jim Butcher

No card preference. I just love handwritten mail.

Since I am new to POSTCROSSING- I have a limited number of postcards available to send. I'll apologize here rather than on the card. As I travel- it will be a new hobby for me- to find cards. So if the card I send doesn't match your favorites- know I still enjoyed sending it.
