I live in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - a very exciting and interesting city that was significantly impacted by Covid-19. However, as of May 1, 2021, occupancy limits in most businesses have been increased to 80%, and our governor has indicated that all limits will be lifted as soon as the state reaches its target vaccination rate, and maintains the target low positivity rate as well. In the last month or so, Las Vegas has seen a major increase in tourists, and there are jobs for the asking in many businesses, including the casinos!
I am an avid collector of postcards and hotel ephemera. My postcard collection is focused on hotels, casinos, airports and horse racetracks, so I would especially like those kinds of postcards from Postcrossers around the world! However, also please feel free to send me a postcard that you think is interesting (tell me why) or represents your hometown, or your interests.
It has been interesting to connect with people across the world this year+ and hear how they have been impacted by the pandemic. If you can, please share your thoughts on the pandemic and how you are dealing with it, or how you have been affected by it.
I also really enjoy reading - fiction, for sure, and photography. I have time now for travel (well, pre-pandemic times) - have visited most of Europe, as well as Northern Africa and New Zealand, and many of the states here in the U.S. - with tons of photos to show where I have been! Spring 2019 I had the good fortune to visit the Canadian Rockies - British Columbia and Alberta - WOW!! Sadly, it has been over 16 months year since I have traveled anywhere further than my grocery store or my doctor's office. Three trips to Maui, Hawaii have now been cancelled - with the plans now extended to next fall (fingers crossed).
I also have "OCD" - obsessive corgi disorder - because I love my welsh corgi dog friends!!! Especially during these months of self-isolation, those two dogs have been my constant companions and heard me talking way too much.
I enjoy Postcrossing - going to the mailbox each day, wondering if I have any postcards and from where. When I was much younger, I had several penpals - and have started back up with "snail mail" correspondence again. If you are interested in being a penpal, let me know. The art of letter writing should not be lost - especially in these times of fleeting comments. . .
Take care, everyone, stay safe, stay positive, smile, and live smart!
