Hi!

My name is Tian (天). I'm a Chinese student living in Los Angeles pursuing a doctoral degree in Computer Science. I also work as a research assistant for a lab in my university and sometimes I teach classes for undergraduates.
In my free time, I like listening to music, cooking (I have a goal to cook 100 kinds of new dishes, now 35/100, mainly Chinese recipes, also some other Asian and American recipes), watching movies (slow and peaceful ones) and reading detective fictions.
I'm also learning Japanese. Maybe I can't talk very fluently, but I can read and write. もしよかったら、日本語で葉書を書いてお願いします。当然也欢迎用中文写信。

I'm always wondering how the daily lives of people around the world are like. When I look around, what I can see are just students like me doing similar things at school or after class. But there must be people somewhere else doing completely different things every day. That's why I join Postcrossing. I'd like to hear from people around the world about what they are doing and thinking about. Also, I like postmarks and stamps from different places. Receiving them, holding them in my hands is just like traveling around the world myself.

I maintain an e-album for all postcards I've received. If many years later my physical postcards are unfortunately lost, I can at least recall what they looked like and what people wrote to me. Their front sides are public on https://us.zonerama.com/ks4869/Album/1000021183.

I love those meetups. It's great fun to see old friends, meet new friends, swap postcards and sign meetup postcards. I'm looking forward to attending more meetups in California if possible. If you never did it before, I really recommend having a try.
