About Taylor...

**my birthday is in february! would you send me life advice / words of wisdom for this month?**

hello! my name is taylor. i was raised in texas on the gulf of mexico (close to louisiana, lots of alligators and very swampy), and now i live in chicago with my husband and a very silly, rambunctious 3-yr old son and a baby girl who will be 1yr old later this year.

i taught english to schoolchildren in france before moving to chicago to pursue theater (9+ years ago!). i absolutely love it here. it felt like home almost immediately. i've been a copyeditor, social worker, counselor, and am now working in tech as a trainer -- i spend my days teaching people how to use software more effectively, and i love it. a lot of my outside of work time is spent working with older adults. i volunteer with an organization that pioneered the intergenerational housing model (older adults living in community with families, younger people, etc) and it's one of my greatest joys.

i love gardening, tending to houseplants, baking, and being creative. we moved into a 105-year old house in febuary 2022 when it was under two feet of snow and have enjoyed seeing what types of perennial plants and flowers are coming up. i'm learning a lot about native plants and pollinators and just finished a master gardener course and certification.

i have written and performed onstage as part of a duo // part dramatic, part comedic. i also love to read, all types of books but some favorites from childhood are "alice in wonderland" and books by roald dahl. i am eager to share these with my kiddos. i also enjoy shirley jackson's gothic novels and short stories, mystery novels, detective stories, time travel... and so on.

i'd love to hear something interesting about YOU, where you live, a quote you love, your favorite books, music, movies, a dish you like to make, or whatever you're inspired to write. i also am interested in folklore -- stories, legends, myths about your part of the world.

other ideas:

* what could you talk about for hours?
* what does an ideal day look like?
* what is a story you love to tell?
OR write me a postcard as though we already know each other. this has been fun and fruitful!

i speak english and french and am learning spanish. please write in any language you are comfortable with, even if i don't speak it! i love any type of card. i'm honestly much more interested in what you have to say than what is on the front side of the card, but here are some ideas if you like:

-- astronomy, anything celestial (sun, moon, stars)
-- christmas / festive / holiday all year round
-- winter scenes
-- something unique to your area of the world
-- libraries, books, coffee, tea
-- windows and doors
-- gardens, flowers, plants
-- architecture and art
-- anything whimsical, funky, weird
-- anything old or antique

xx
