Hi!

My name is Syafiq. I live in a pretty big city called Bandung, lying on Java Island of Indonesia. Since mountainous areas surround it, you can easily find a large number of volcanoes, hot springs, and tea plantations here. Finger crossed, it is one of the most beautiful landscapes you will ever see! But, have you ever heard about “Preanger Stelsel”, a cultivation system implemented by colonial thousand years ago, that caused the extraction of natural resources and human exploitation? Yep, it all once was happened here in Bandung! :P

Speaking of which, I have been working for five years now as a social researcher in a small independent research institution. The agrarian change and rural development issues have always been the main topic of my research (it would be nice if I could find someone who has the same interest as me). You know, after all of this time, I realized that I needed to hone my analytical skills and knowledge. That is why I plan to step into a higher level of education – I want to study abroad! Though I have already got accepted in several universities in Europe, I am still struggling to get a scholarship to support my study. Wish me good luck, will you? ;))

So, it is actually not my first time becoming a postcrosser; but I thought it might be helpful for me to broaden my networks with all of you that come from every corner of the world to share ideas, thoughts, stories, or some worries on anything! :))) As for me, I would appreciate every postcard design that you choose: I will let you surprise me. Yet, what concerns me the most is what you will write on there. You can think of me as someone who knows nothing, and you are the one who will enlighten me with the piece of knowledge you have – it surely can be about nearly everything!
