About sprinkle_the_rainbow...

Happy Postcrossing from the land down under!

I am a stay at home Mummy living in the outer suburbs of the city of Melbourne, Australia. I am fortunate enough to be blessed with a child of each gender and I am relishing watching them grow and learn. I began Postcrossing with my son as a way of teaching him about the world and enjoyed it so much I just had to create my own account!

With two young children, the chances of travel are slim, in fact, even venturing to the supermarket can be challenging! So instead of going out and exploring the world, I decided to have the world delivered to me. Each postcard that lands in my letterbox allows me a little glimpse at life of a faraway land. This brings a smile to my face and the thrill never seems to wear off! In addition to being a happy recipient, I love “stalking” each postcard I send as it travels to its destination.

Please tell me a bit about yourself and your country when you send a postcard, as I think your story is just as important as the picture. If you can’t think of what to write, then tell me about the postcard you picked and why you chose it.

I am thankful to be a part of this experience and happy to receive all different types of postcards as they represent the diversity of users and their countries. I also realise it is not always easy to access postcards that others might desire. However, if you live in a country where you are spoiled for choice, then I have included a list below to help you decide!

~ Baby Animals: It would be fun if I could collect as many different creatures beginning with each letter of the alphabet as is possible.
~ Inga Palster owls: I especially the ones wearing costumes such as fairy outfits, panda suits
~ Illustrations of little woodland creatures: foxes, raccoons etc
~ Vintage cards: any retro ad cards for OLD products.
~1980's: postcards from old kids shows such as Care Bears, Rainbow Brite, Punky Brewster. Such great memories!
~ Weather: photos showing storms, twisters, sunsets or rainbows.
~ Maxicards (cards with a real stamp on the front side of the postcard). I'm intrigued by the special handstamped postmarks as often the standard ones are computerised and get smudged.
~ Postcards of similar things in different shades: I love colour! I even named my daughter after one of the hues of the rainbow.
~ Patriotic: photos of things which are native or special to your country. If you live in the USA I would love cards with the name of your state on them, as I hope to collect all 50. I currently only have Alaska, Arizona, California, Georgia, Hawaii, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Utah, Vermont, Virginia and Wisconsin.
~ Other: whimsical things such as feathers, starry skies, strings of bunting, fairytale characters, yummy treats.

Thanks for taking the time to read my profile.
Wishing you all many, many wonderful postcard exchanges!
