Hi! My name is Sonya, I'm 10 years old. I live in Moscow, Russia and I love my city and country very much, but as Hans Christian Andersen once said “To Travel is to Live”, so I get super excited every time my parents take me to see new places. No matter if it’s only a quick weekend trip or a long-awaited family vacation and no matter how close or far from home we’re going – it’s always an adventure for me. Choosing and planning a new travel destination is half the fun!

This summer I’m working on a special project that I’m going to present at school in September. I want to prove that travelling is one of the best ways to learn about the world. My goal is to show my schoolmates how everyone has a chance to explore new places and meet new people from different countries even from home, because there’s such an amazing thing as postcrossing!

Dear Friends – I would be so grateful if you could support my project and help me to promote the idea of travelling around the world with postcards!

• Please send me a card that would make me fall in love with your country :) It could be anything – a landscape to show the beauty of your nature or a lovely city view, some animals that are specific to your region, traditional food, art, symbols, etc.
• Please write why you think I should visit your country and if I go there one day, what places you would recommend me to see first of all or maybe what things to do.

In September I will show all your cards to my schoolmates and everyone will choose a place he or she would like to visit most of all. Who knows, maybe we’ll convince our teacher and parents to go there together!

My mom helps me to run this account, because my English is not that good for now, but I work hard to improve my reading and writing skills, so this project is also of great help and motivation to me.

Some other facts about me:

• I love animals, Lego, books (especially comics), board games, movies and youtube
• I write funny stories (mainly about animals) and I try to create cartoons (my latest hobby)
• I play piano (love music, but really hate practicing for hours) and sing in the choir (we once performed in the Pantheon in Rome, such an unforgettable and fantastic experience!)
• My favorite food is cheese (yes, cheese!), olives (believe it or not) and tomatoes. And, OF COURSE, chocolate, ice cream, cupcakes, cookies - all the sweet things you can imagine :)
• At the same time, I like sports (swimming most of all)
• My friends say I have a great sense of humor
• My favorite colors are green and pink
• My favorite movie actor is Eddie Redmayne (Newt Scamander from Fantastic Beasts)
• I love Garfield (sometimes I’m as lazy as that cat) and Moomins
