My name is Ellen Mika-Brown. I live in Williamsburg, Virginia in the United States of America. I have a B.A. in Psychology/Sociology, with a minor in education from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. I taught elementary school for several years.

I am married and I have one daughter. I have been a stay at home Mom and also during this time, wrote an activity column in a local parenting magazine for about 10 years.

After my daughter entered middle school, I started a job working for a local newspaper in design for 10 years. Now, I love making collages, collecting postcards and helping several local animal rescues.

I love art, animals, reading mysteries and writing, especially haikus. I also enjoy my weekly yoga classes (Namaste). I would also like to travel more, but until then, I travel vicariously through "Postcrossing". My favorite indulgence is chocolate. I could eat burritos everyday in various combinations and never grow bored.

My daughter is a private pilot and is self employed as an aviation mechanic/aircraft broker in general aviation. She is getting into maintaining older aircraft and gliders lately - those that have fabric coverings and wooden frames.

We recently moved to a smaller house in an effort to "go smaller", but I have found that we did not downsize enough, so I am following the advice of several minimalist blogs and donating a lot more things to charity, that "collect dust" and are not needed, or loved.

But we like our smaller accommodations and no more stair climbing. My husband has had 5 back surgeries and one floor was a definite consideration. He was an engineer for NASA and recently retired from there and the Air Force. He loves building and flying radio controlled model airplanes, solving sudoku puzzles, reading and writing programs on his laptop.
