About Shelley...
Hi! My name is Shelley and I am a mother and aunt living in Colorado in the US and I like to share my postcards with the kids as well. My city is right at the foot of the mountains. In my free time, I like reading, writing, and creating art. I am not a trained or highly skilled artist but that doesn't stop me from having fun. :) I like to paint, doodle, cross-stich, make junk journals, etc. I also like hiking, cooking, and music - I am looking forward to going to concerts again. I love going to thrift stores for clothes, decor, and arts and crafts materials because you never know what surprises you might find there.
English is my native language. I am trying to relearn French (I took classes in high school and college); I am not fluent but if you speak French and want to write me a postcard in French, I'd enjoy reading and translating it. :)
Ultimately, I look forward to whatever type of card you want to send and whatever you want to write! I like variety and I like being surprised by the interesting and unique cards I never thought about before. I love how each postcard is a little peek into your world, your life, your culture.
However, if you prefer profiles with ideas, here are some things I like in no particular order:
Giraffes, octopuses, carousels, kawaii, watercolors, art, interesting architecture and unique buildings, nature, random pretty things, baseball, space, night, mid-century modern design, Star Wars, punk, Sailor Moon, pictures of your native place, local animals and plants, pre-raphaelite art, vintage postcards, medieval and orthodox art, churches, linen postcards, maps. Handmade cards are awesome! I think advertising cards can be cool too. I especially enjoy motel cards and interesting restaurant cards.
And I am eager to read whatever message you choose to write on the back! Again, I like variety and surprises. However if you would like some prompts, here are a few ideas:
Facts or history about where you live, a sketch drawn by you, a favorite recipe, your favorite books or movies, your hobbies and goals, current or common weather where you live, a word or phrase in your native language, a lyric of a local song or just any favorite song.
Happy Postcrossing :)
