About Šárka...

Hello, dear Postcrossers!
My name is Šárka, but you can call me Sar. If you just want to swap postcards with me, take a look at my album and choose which one you would like (link above). Then drop me a private message here on Postcrossing or on my sar.postcards Instagram profile. ♥ Also, if you have an instagram about postcards, put it on the back, I'll tag you when your postcard arrives! 💌
I'm a twenty-three year old librarianship student at university, having previously studied multimedia at art school. Alongside my studies I work in an archive. I live with my parents, my younger brother and lots of animals - we have five parakeets, four guinea pigs, an exotic cat and a night gecko. I could start a mini zoo, huh? 🤭
I do a lot of different things in my spare time... Maybe we have something in common? 😉
I've been an astronomer for twelve years, and for the past two years I've been giving tours at the observatory in my town where I got my start in astronomy. I tell people about the history of the observatory and about our telescopes that we use to observe. But the kids are still most excited about the slide they can slide down on their way out of the dome. 👩‍🚀
I like to read a lot, especially books based on true stories and biographies about the Holocaust and World War II. I think my interest in the events of WWII in general led me to this. My dad and I travel around the country and visit the war bunkers that are now museums. This period should not be forgotten. Of course, I also like to read other books, because reading only such a heavy subject would drive me crazy. I have fallen in love with Haruki Murakami's books. 📚
I love tramping, I've been going with my dad and a bunch of different people for almost ten years now. My favorite part is the heavy pack on my back, wandering through nature and then sleeping in the open air and singing songs around the campfire. 🔥
Besides postcards, I also collect old analog cameras, I have over twenty of them at home. I buy them mainly at the stock exchange, where I like to go. I enjoy it when a camera is broken and it is in my power to fix it, it makes me feel good. When the repair is successful and the camera works, I take them on trips or just to take pictures of our city. But to tell the whole truth, I'm then lazy to go to a photo shop to get my film developed. 📸
I like to listen to music during my travels and at home. I guess I'm a bit of a listener of everything, but rock, metal, classical and country music are the ones I'm closest to. It's a very interesting mix, isn't it? 🎵 I also love going to galleries, museums and theatres. Culture is part of my life and it's one of the few things I'd probably go crazy without. I've tried calligraphy, but since I'm left-handed, I'm not very good at it because I always smudge everything. That's why I want to try knitting and embroidery instead. I'm a creative person, I always have to create and invent something. ✏
