About Laura...

Hi- Ahoj- Hallo- Hola- Saluton- Salut- from beautiful Pensacola, Florida on the Gulf of Mexico!

Postcards, for me, are smiles in the mailbox! I enjoy sending cards to deliver a smile as much as I like receiving cards chosen for me. :)

My "best" postcard story is that I became engaged via postcard! The card was hand-delivered on a boat during a scuba diving vacation. It was written in Czech, which I couldn't read, so I had to wait for an English translation of the proposal. We had a beach wedding in 2011, and I'm still slowly trying to learn Czech!

Every January we travel to attend a Postcard Show. It's my favorite event of the year! But, life isn't all about postcards. My avatar is an octopus exploring my hand while I was scuba diving--another passion. I'm a divemaster, but I dive for fun too. I also love yoga, Pickleball, biking, gardening, vegetarian cooking, the beach, reading, music, swimming, kayaking, foreign languages, and time with friends and pets (we have a chubby black cat, a Rottweiler & a "foster" dog). I'm a lawyer, a Hospice volunteer, and member of Impact 100. No time for TV, so we don't have one!

I've visited over 30 US states, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Costa Rica, Croatia, Cuba, Czech Republic, Ecuador, Egypt, France, Germany, Honduras, Hungary, Indonesia, Luxembourg, Italy, Mexico, Palau, Panama, Peru, Philippines, Poland, Scotland, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey, Venezuela, Yugoslavia, and 10+ Caribbean nations, (including 12 days sailing a 38 ft. "cat" as part of a 5 woman crew!)

For me, the message is often what makes a card special. (Because of this, meetup cards are not as fun.) It's OK if I already have the same card! YOUR message makes it unique. I love to re-read special postcards later, so be creative!

-Tell me about a random act of kindness you did or received,
-Tell me a secret or something no one knows about you,
-Share a dream, a fear, or what you are grateful for;
-Tell me a favorite joke or quote
-Share an anecdote about Postcrossing, or write about what we have in common, or the card you chose

Some cards I like (from your country!) are:
Holidays
funny/humorous cards
typical things/customs/(vegetarian) foods/sweets
women (from your country- famous, in traditional dress, brides, etc.)
fruits & veggies
LGBTQ
scuba diving/mermaids
Large Letter Greeting
maps/flags
bright colors
Krtek, Dubanci (CZ), your country's cartoons
animals / birds from your country
Metallic, shiny, 3D
musical instruments
mail boxes
artistic bl/wh photos
YOUR favorite card! (and tell me why!)

I like pretty stamps (& Postcrossing stamps!), & please NO envelope/NO folded cards.

Please write in Spanish, French, German, Czech or Esperanto, if you can-I enjoy the practice! :)

happy, st'astny, fröhliches, feliz, feličan, bon Postcrossing!
:)
