We are searching for postcards for my husbands office wall.

We are living in the south of Germany, in Mannheim.
Mannheim is an industrial city with a population of more than 300.000 people and is located on the rivers Rhine and Neckar.

One of the most famous citizens in Mannheim is Carl Benz, the
inventor of the car and co founder of the Daimler Company.
The worlds first car was build in Mannheim.
But the inventor did not earn any money. The citizens did not trust the " Patent Motorwagen", because they thought horses are more effecitive. So Carl Benz decided to start a promotion tour and called it " VIRGIN JOURNEY ".
However, the virgin journey was made by his wife Bertha ( " Virgin Journey" - German humor ;-) ) and his two sons, because he did not dare.
The drive took more than 12 hours for a distance of about 100 kilometers. When the tank was empty, Berta simply used medical alcohol. Thus, the "Schloß Apotheke" ( Court Pharmacy ) in Wiesloch,near Heidelberg (which still exists), was the first gas station in the world.

You see: Mannheim has a big engeneering and industrial tradition.

The first German Electronic car was also build in Mannheim, as well as the first german Bike by Carl Drais.
And one day after presentation it was forbidden, a typical descission of politicians from Mannheim. And something will never change.
The Bulldog was developed in Mannheim by Heinrich Lanz. The Lanz Company became after World War II a part of the John Deeere Company.

Many International Companies like BASF or SAP were founded in Mannheim.

Robert is a lawyer, working as a head of department in Statutory accident insurance.

He is also interested in football,his favourite club is SV Waldhof Mannheim 07 , an old traditional working class football club. In the 1980s the club was playing in the first division. . The greatest time we hat in the late 1920s and early 1930s. Sepp Herberger , the world champions coach from 1954 was from this club.

Tamara directs a company in the healthcare.

Originally, she is from Marburg. Marburg is one of the most famous university cities in germany. The university exists since 1527. Famous students were, for example:

She loves our boxer and makes dog sports, especially agility.
