I grew up in Turkey and when I was learning English I had several pen-pals. I enjoy receiving letters, and postcards. I want the same experience for my daughter, Melisa, who is 9 years old. She is hard of hearing/deaf and loves reading, dancing, drawing, hiking and camping. We live in a small town in the north of the United States, close to the Adirondacks national park, with very long and cold winters. The short summers are beautiful, and people come from all over to see historic horse races, enjoy nature and the natural springs. I am 40+ years old. I am a geographer by training and I teach about environment and society at a university.
