My name is Noël. I am a queer woman from Seattle, WA, USA (born Syracuse, NY); my husband and I moved to Germany in April, 2018. I work as a graphic designer (@ingraphica on Instagram), and have my dual-Masters degrees in Arts Administration and Museum Studies. I majored in East Asian Art History and Photography in my undergraduate studies, and have worked in the arts for nearly ten years (incl. Sue Ann Genet Costume Collection, Seattle Art Museum). From 2006-2007 I was a Rotary Exchange Student in Yamagata, Japan, where I studied the Japanese tea ceremony (茶の湯); I also worked as a supervisor at a tea shop for several years, and love chai, oolong, and puerh. I currently Admin two forum roleplay groups, based on the Elfquest graphic novel series, and am working on my first novel.
I am also the founder of the Puget Sound Postcrossing Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/pspg.postcrossing/
This year I decided to do something new: each month will have a few suggested themes, topics, and fun ideas. These are completely optional, and you can always choose another:
♫ Themes for October:
- handmade cards
- Autumn: colorful leaves, pumpkins, apples, hot cider, etc.
- video games, board games
♫ Topics for October:
- What is your favorite candy, and why?
- What is an unusual hobby of yours?
- Tell me about your pet(s)
♫ Fun Ideas for October:
- send the postcard in a hand-decorated envelope
- glue something to the back of the card (a train/metro ticket, receipt in a foreign language, handwritten shopping list, etc.)
I love and collect a number of themes, but my focuses for 2019 are:
♥ drawings of food/drink (Asian foods, desserts, coffee/tea)
♥ subways, trains, railways
♥ drawn maps (incl. metro/subways)
♥ urban sketches/watercolor landscapes
♥ post boxes
♥ railways and trains
♥ shaped cards
♥ vintage ad cards from 50s-60s American Hotels/Motels
♥ USSR space posters/astronomy
♥ funky/weird art
♥ cartoons (Sanrio, Krtek, Moomin)
♥ hummingbirds, sea turtles, stags (deer/elk)
♥ LGBTQA+ cards, erotic photography (men/women), pinups
♥ mermaids, magic, tarot, astronomy (Capricorn)
♥ women in traditional clothes
♥ quotes, alphabets
♥ PostalLove's postcards (ie. "Greetings from...")
Handmade and Ad cards are always welcome!
♥ I love to receive cards with stamps that are shaped, holographic, embossed, or depict food/drink.
♥ I also appreciate tea, currency, and stickers from your country!
