About mashedpotatoes57...

I am in my thirties and have 2 young kids. I work as an accountant and have lived in California all my life, so I would love to learn about the world through Postcrossing.

I like to read, listen to audio books/podcasts on the road, go to plays/musicals, hike, and Jazzercise. I am part of Toastmasters and am finding it helpful. Some of my favorite shows are Scrubs, Parks and Recreation, 30 Rock, El Chavo del 8, How I Met Your Mother, Downton Abbey, Jane the Virgin, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, The Good Place, and Modern Family. I can read/listen to the Harry Potter books and Pride and Prejudice over and over. Lately, I've been reading more personal development/self-help, memoirs, and the occasional novel or whatever my kids are into lately. The next concert I will be attending is Ingrid Andress. Someday, I might catch up on movies. I am usually a few years behind, so I probably haven't seen your favorite movie. Sorry!

I have collected postcards since I was in middle school. My favorites are of the following, but I will appreciate any postcard if you don't have these available.

- large letter postcards, the kind with images inside the letters (example: http://www.postcrossing.com/blog/2013/03/12/greetings-from )
- landmarks (beaches, rivers, lakes, mountains, forests)
- famous or unusual buildings and architecture (stadiums, castles)
- Italy (Piazza San Marcos or Rome)
- UNESCO cards
- Olympics
- Christmas lights, or interesting displays of lights
- gardens. I like roses, lilies and orchids
- food. It doesn't need to be a recipe
- cutout cards
- map cards
- US state capitol cards
- Where's Waldo, Harry Potter, Tom & Jerry, Disney
- funny cards
- Halloween (for kids or me!)
- covid humor
- Wings of fire/Minecraft/Pokemon (for the kids)
- Betta fish

No need to have the card be from your city, country, whatever you have will be great! Tell me a little about yourself - this is the part that makes a postcard worth receiving! If you can't think of what to say, here are a few ideas:
- Tell me about your day.
- What is the talk of the town today?
- What is your favorite holiday? Are there any holidays unique to your culture?
- What do you think about my country?
- What did you want to be when you grew up?
- What inspires you?
- What is your favorite food and how is it made?
- What is a good trip destination? (or your dream trip!)
- What do you know now that you wish you had known when you were younger?
- Do you have an interesting quirk or pet peeve?
- What have you done to make your dreams come true? (or closer to true if you're not quite there yet!)
- What do you do in your free time?
- Do you have a favorite quote or saying?
- Do you have a productivity/organization tip?
