About Alexandra...
Olá (hello!)
My name is Alexandra Fernandes and I'm... well, many things :)
My basic education is in biology, but my specialization is in the environment and sustainability.
I have been working for many years in environmental education and raising awareness on various topics. Alongside this passion, there is the photography that I also do professionally. Theaters, stages, my natural surroundings.
Science and art have always gone hand in hand in my life :)
I love to write and I did it frequently on my train journeys, leaving hidden messages on the benches. Nowadays, I have an old typewriter that I lovingly take out of the box when I want to remember that magic. And...yes. A paper and pencil are always with me.
Although I already have work in several areas of my country, my hometown is on the north - Guimarães.
Guimarães has a significant historical importance due to the role it played in the foundation of Portugal. The city is often referred to as the "birthplace of the Portuguese nationality" or "the cradle city" ("Cidade Berço", in portuguese) because it is widely believed that Portugal's first King, Afonso Henriques, was born there.
The inhabitants of Guimarães are often called "Vimaranenses" and "Conquistadores" (the Conquerors) in relation with the historical heritage of the conquest initiated in Guimarães.
I'm very proud of being from there *
I have never given suggestions on what kind of postcards I would like to receive because, at heart, all postcards are welcome.
I leave just a few suggestions of topics that I really like and, if it makes sense to you, you can send something related to them:
- street photography
- typewriters
- books
- landscapes
- japanese culture
- world food
- world music
- monuments and historic sites
- black and white postcards
- (...)
(...) And if you're not inspired to write anything specific, tell me about your favorite bands, or books, or writers, or food,... or just teach me something in your language! I love to learn new languages.
I invite you to visit Portugal, one paradise planted by the sea. See you!
