About Mari...

Greetings from Arnhem (Gelderland), a city in a green area, and known for "A Bridge Too Far". I’m an art lover and avid reader. If you are too, please tell me of a favourite artist or author, perhaps a quote. Or mention a composer, a film, a building, a recipe, or whatever is an interest of yours. If you're going to visit my country, I could be your guide, if we have interests in common.

I'm a retired librarian and mother, presently living in Arnhem (after Leiden and Amsterdam). These days I take along people who are in the early stages of dementia.

Particular interests of mine at the moment are beds (my avatar is a cupboardbed from a house in Arnhem's National Heritage Open Air Museum*). BEDS > including sickbeds, berths, bunkbeds, fourposters, hammocks, mattrasses, chaises longues &c. Best of all something specific of your part of the world, of course. Used art cards and blank art cards on this topic are welcome, too.

No run-of-the-mill tourist cards, please, no folded ones, no 3-D, no pets (oh dear, how demanding I sound). Standard size postcards (c. 10 x 15 cm / 3,94 x 5,91 inches) in envelopes preferred. I like unusual stamps, esp. arty ones. If possible, please upload the card you send.

To prevent duplication I no longer fave cards received.

I appreciate information on whatever you're sending. If you feel your English is poor, write in your own language (I may be able to translate it, or admire the characters -)). It would be nice if people would write captions and comments to their postcards; that is, when the picture is not self-evident.

Dozens of my sent postcards never got registered, among them some of my favourite ones, no longer in print. It's unsettling when people, active on Postcrossing, do not respond when you probe them about the fate of a card sent to them six weeks or so ago.

Thanks for all YOUR efforts, though.-)
