About Maria...

Hello!

My name is Maria. I'm from Russia. From 2012 I lived in Finland and Slovenia but recently relocated back to Russia. I'm a doctoral student at the University of Helsinki and I work part-time as a language teacher. I'm keen on traveling, photography, geography, history, movies, music, literature, as well as studying new languages.

I like the idea of Postcrossing that in today's superconnected world, where you can reach somebody almost immediately, you need to slow down, spend some time choosing and writing a postcard and waiting for it to arrive to a complete stranger. And of course, I am so happy and fascinated when I personally receive a postcard from somewhere in this world!

I appreciate everything that you will write on the postcard. If you are lacking the ideas, here are my suggestions:
- write me some basic phrases in your language (like "Hello", "Thank you", "I'm sorry", "I love you", etc.) with transcription if possible,
- send me a recipe of your favorite or national food,
- what is your profession?
- what is your favorite book or movie?
- send me a riddle, so I will try to solve it :)
- what are the places you have been to.

If you are not sure what kind of postcard to send, here are some themes:

- Maps
- World Heritage Sites
- Winter
- Indigenous Peoples
- Food and drinks (I especially like ice cream and tea :)
- Black-and-white postcards
- Flags and coats of arms
- National costumes
- Historical persons
- Unicolored cards
- Space
- Abandoned places
- Flora
- Postcards with facts

Nevertheless, if you don't have a card that corresponds to this list, please send me a card you want to receive yourself :) If it is possible for you, please try to avoid sending me a multiview postcard. Thank you!

PS: If your mother tongue is one of the languages I can speak, please write a postcard in your language, so I will practice/recall it a bit :)
