About Emily...

Hello, my name is Emily. It is nice to meet you! I am a makeup artist, beauty writer and college student. Makeup is my biggest passion in life and I consider myself very lucky to be able to do what I love nearly every day.

In college, I study special effects (SFX) makeup and skincare. I live near Kansas City (The Heart of America) with my parents. My mom and I joined Postcrossing a few months ago and almost always send postcards together. I love sharing this hobby with her. Our beloved poodle Ruby recently passed away in December 2018. We miss her very much. She would always sit at the table with us when we sent postcards.

We have a beautiful green parakeet (budgie), her name is Sunny. She is very smart, curious, funny and clumsy.

In my free time, I enjoy drawing and painting. I love art, I think life would be very sad without it. I mostly paint women's faces and figures. Sometimes I'll be inspired by a postcard and try to recreate it, which is quite fun to do. I love to laugh at myself and life in general, I am a sucker for an awful pun. I play the ukulele. I believe in kindness and that in a world where you can be anything, be kind.

Any postcard is welcome, but if you are in need of some inspiration: makeup, poodles, art, postcards from/of museums, Victorian women, women's portraits, girl power, fashion and fashion accessories, daisies, butterflies, humor (puns, ironic, New Yorker comics, etc.), parakeets, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Jane Austen and Leonid Afremov. If you are from Russia, I would absolutely love to receive Viktoria Kirdy postcards.

Handmade cards are warmly welcomed, so if you'd like to send one, please do, I love them! Do make sure to send it on proper card-stock, so it arrives as beautiful as you sent it. I enjoy sending/making handmade postcards etc, so I appreciate the time and effort you put into any handmade card.

I am not able to travel right now, but every postcard I receive makes me feel like I’ve visited the country I receive it from.
I love reading what you write on the back. If you don’t know what to write, here are a few ideas.
- A recent event in your life or country.
- What you are passionate about.
- A poem or quote you like.
- What kind of makeup or skincare 'trends' are popular in your country/where you live?

If you don't know what to send me, send me a card that you would like to receive. Feel free to contact me about direct swaps, anything from pen pals to State Map cards.
