About Joanne...

I am a wife, mother, and grandmother, and we have two cats.

I live near Minneapolis/St. Paul in Minnesota, USA.

In college, I majored in English literature and mathematics, and I was a teacher for a while.

I like to travel, cook, and read. In the summer, I like to take walks outside to enjoy the birds and trees. I make art and write, enjoy long-term pen pals, and send and receive mail or postal art. Right now, I am working on drawing and watercolors.

While some Postcrossers just want stamps from around the world, or to receive postcards from many countries, I want to learn about who people are. Thus I like to take the time to read people's profiles, and think about who they are and what type of postcard they might like. I also like to write an interesting message on the back of the postcard.

Here are some things that you could tell me, if you don't know what to write:

Can you give me a "postcard tour" of your neighborhood, or tell me something about your daily life?

Maybe you could tell me about someone who made a big difference in your life, like a relative, or a teacher?

Maybe you can tell me something about the history of your family. Did you have any interesting ancestors that you know about?

What traditions do you have for birthdays or national/religious holidays?

If you had an evening all to yourself, and could do anything you wanted, what would you choose to do? Why?

What is one place in your country that you haven't seen, that you would like to see? Why?

What is one good memory that you have from your childhood?

Commercial postcards are nice, but if you make postcards with photos you've taken, that is even better. Even a picture of the street outside your house would be interesting to me. You see it every day, so it might seem boring to you, but since I've never lived there, I will find it interesting.

Please, only send cards that respect other people, so no nudity, profanity, or cards that make fun of other people or cultures.

Looking forward to getting your card in the mail!

By the way, though I don't indicate "favorite" postcards, know that I do appreciate every Postcrossing card that comes, and the chance to learn about different cultures, families, neighborhoods, languages, and histories.
