About Jason...

I grew up on a small dairy farm in Minnesota, USA, and getting mail was always exciting for me as a boy. It still is, so I'm eagerly awaiting to hear from y'all! (I've since moved to Texas, where the y'all comes in). Seriously, every time I get mail I do a little happy dance.

By day, I work for a non-profit health organization. In my spare time I make geek-inspired latch hook rugs for charity. You can see all my finished projects here:

My other hobby is sending handmade cards and envelopes to my friends and family on their birthdays and anniversaries. I have a very large family so I send out 700+ cards a year. My wife isn't sure what to think about my "projects" but she loves me anyway :)

I'm a huge fan of Spider-Man and Marvel comics in general, and I'm an avid reader of pretty much anything, with a bent towards sci-fi and history (currently reading "America" by Jon Stewart and the cast of "The Daily Show"). You can see my GoodReads profile here:

And as a fan of comic books, I try my hand at writing my own. My talented friends do the artwork when they have time and I post the continuing stories here:

My wife and I watch "The Young and the Restless" (an American soap opera that has been running for decades) every weekday after work. I'm also a big fan of sci-fi TV/movies, especially anything involving aliens. Some of my faves are all the different iterations of "Star Trek", the "Star Wars" franchise (particularly the original trilogy), and the wonderfully creative "Farscape".

I love animals, especially anything involving baby animals. Besides dogs and cats, my favorite animals are elephants, whales, bison, and bears. But really they're all my favorites. Except maybe possums and bats, but I try really hard to get past it.

Anything you want to send is great, especially if it's something that YOU love, I'd love to see and hear about it. I love seeing all the different stamps from around the world, too.

Since joining, I've also learned about maxi-cards, which sounds like one of the most amazing things ever, but no pressure ;)

I'm really looking forward to seeing what y'all send me and learning more about you!!!

p.s. The last couple of years have been a time of much self-reflection for me as I try to learn more about myself and my country. I would be very interested to hear any thoughts you have about the United States to help me on my journey. Your perspectives "from the outside" would be very valuable to me.
