About Lia...

Hi there, I am Lia! I love Postcrossing and connecting with others around the world. I hand-make all my postcards from recycled materials, resulting in drawings on used cardboard, collages of magazine cutouts, and other unique designs. Message me if you want to direct-swap, or for me to send you a postcard back. 🤓

For a little more understanding of me and my interests, checkout the blog I've just started:
https://curiositycoloredglasses.com/

In each post, I explore a question I have always wondered about, and I write, draw images, and code data visualizations to help explain the answers I uncover. So far my blog has just one post, but I am working on many more!...

In fact, I would LOVE it if you can help me out with an upcoming blog post idea I have! I am curious about the different styles of handwriting, or penmanship, around the world, specifically when it comes to writing the letters in the English language and Roman alphabet. I have begun to notice certain patterns in the way some letters and numbers are written by people from different places around the globe, but I need more data to verify and to analyze these potential trends.

My investigation into this topic would be greatly assisted if, on your postcard if you could write the following:

ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ
abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz
The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.
01234567890

No need to use your best handwriting, I am more interested in your everyday writing style. And I'd love to hear where you are from or where you grew up learning to write. Do you remember anything about learning to write the letters and numbers? Did you learn in school, from a parent, or another way? Is there a specific reason you have chosen to form certain letters or numbers the way you do? Also, does your first language use the Roman alphabet as a base, but include other symbols or characters than the English alphabet? If so I'd love to see those, too! (Fellow Americans, I am interested to hear these answers from you all as well! 😃)

If you'd like, I will mention you in the blog post this research results in, so let me know if it's okay to use your name or Postcrossing id name, or if you'd prefer to remain anonymous. Thank you!!!

And any postcard you want to send is lovely to me! I have no preferences, but if you'd like some clues and the single blog post I've published thus far is not of enough assistance, here are some more tidbits about me:
• I love nature and trail running
• I have an adorable medium-small dog named Quigley
• I have an adorable teeny tiny crested gecko named Moab
• I love learning new things, especially about the natural world and animals
• I love coding
• I love making things by hand

Thank you wonderful person, and sorry this has become a very long profile; ending it now!
