About Kim...

Hello and greetings!

I am interested in hearing from folks across the globe. I'd love to receive any postcard you'd like to send. I especially appreciate cards that are different, unique and bizarre. I'd love to hear a little about your life, what is a typical day like, what are some things that bring you joy, anything you want to tell me.

A little about me...I am a retired potter. I live in Cocoa, Florida. Cocoa is on the east coast, just a few minutes from the Atlantic Ocean. And very close to Kennedy Space Center.

I took about a year off from postcrossing. I became all consumed with researching my genealogy and DNA. I have found out some fascinating things. My DNA is all British Isles and I'm mostly Scottish and I've made a couple of trips to the UK. The first time, Scotland, then York. I believe next I will go the Orkney Islands off the north coast of Scotland to focus on my Nordic ancestry

My ancestors came to America in the late 1600's to late 1700's and all settled in the foothills of North Carolina. That is where I was born.

On my mother's side, my 6x great grandfather Samuel Kelso was a swordsmith from Scotland. He continued to make swords while his sons fought in the Revolutionary War. His home was robbed and his swords destroyed by British officers.

During the year 1780, my 7x great grandmother, Sarah Watson was scalped and shot by Native Americans, Buffalo Valley, PA.

On my father's side, my 8x great grandparents William Goforth and Anne Skipwith were Quakers. They moved from England with other Quakers. Anne's mother died as a Quaker martyr in prison at Clifford's Tower, York Castle. Anne is a "gateway ancestor" meaning she descends from royalty and nobility.

Ok, I won't bore you with anymore stories :)

If you know your family history, feel free to share it with me.

I love Postcrossing and I look forward to receiving your postcard!
