About Gene...

I'm originally from Louisiana, USA but I am now a retired expat living in Thailand for the last 11 years. There are some great things about this place including beautiful beaches and really nice temples to visit. Problem is that it is always hot and humid. It never even gets cool here in Bangkok.

When I was 13 I got my first job and started working at a local pet store. This developed into a life-long love of animals, birds and fish. At present we have 3 dogs, 2 cats, 1rabbit, 2 prairie dogs, 19 aquariums and about 25 birds. A small zoo.

One of the best things about living here in Thailand is that if you enjoy plants it is a paradise. Just throw it on the ground and it will grow. Thus, gardening is another hobby.

Now for the bad part of Thailand: The country is so over tourist-ed that the vibrant things which I saw when I first arrived are now history. There is pollution and trash everywhere. Most of the once great tourist spots have been ruined. This is especially true of the sea. Additionally, the Thais are greedy and money grubbing and you will soon realize that you are not in the world famous Land Of Smiles. Many of the tourist are here for sex tourism only and the Thai people are happy to give them what they want even though it may be under age children. Sad but true.
