About Katherine...

Hello, friends,
I came across Postcrossing when I taught at an elementary school and was looking for ideas for our year's theme of "Around the World." I thought it would be a great way to expose the kids to geography, different cultures, writing, and more, and it was! I've moved and no longer work at that school, but I haven't given up the fun I'm having getting to know so many wonderful people through simple postcards.

I'm married and have 4 young adult children. I like to read, write, take pictures, listen to great music, travel, and just spend time with my family. I work at home now, doing copyediting and proofreading for several book publishing companies - it's great getting paid to read. :)

I've also been a teacher of English as a Second Language, and have always been interested in people of other cultures. I've visited Canada, England, Ireland, Scotland, Russia, Uzbekistan, China, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Austria, France, Italy, Israel, Palestine, Jordan, and Egypt - and I'm ready to see more! In the meantime, your postcard will be my virtual travel.

Some of my favorite types of postcards are:
*your local attractions - what would I see if I came to visit?
*old paintings - especially Renaissance, Old Masters, Impressionist
*flowers
*old sailing ships
*history/artifacts
*ethnic costumes or architecture
*pen & ink drawings/watercolors, professional or your own :)
*vintage/antique greetings
*desserts :)

I appreciate pretty or interesting stamps on the card, too, if you have them.

I'll love anything you choose for me. If it's not from my suggestions, tell me why you picked it! I look forward to reading your message - the best part of any card.
