About John...

Greetings from Florida! I read the newspaper daily, specially the comics (Calvin & Hobbes and Pearls Before Swine being my favorites), and do the crossword and sudoku puzzles. I love amusement/theme parks, fairs, and traveling on planes, trains, and ships. I always travel with paper maps and guidebooks, even when I don’t need them. During high school I was a cast member at Disney’s Magic Kingdom Park. I now manage a small business. I’ve lived in Florida my whole life and been to every part except for the remote Dry Tortugas.

It’s a pleasure to receive all kinds of cards. If you'd like suggestions however, cards of tourist attractions, landmarks, travel destinations and vintage travel posters are always great. Theme parks, world fairs (past and present), airlines and monorails are other favorite interests of mine oft found on postcards. If you need a writing prompt, I’d love to know what you’d most recommend I see or do if I were to visit your area, or what makes it unique. Unless necessary, no envelope please.

Yes, I’m a bit obsessed with airliners and theme parks, and I can’t resist saving pictures of them in my “favorites” folder. My “favorites” is not a postcard wishlist however. Yes, I love airliners and theme parks, but I equally love a wide variety in my mailbox. So feel free to see my “favorites” for inspiration if you need it, but please don’t feel pressured, stressed or limited by it. The best cards to receive are the ones which were a joy to send.

FUN FACT: The US Postal Service does not issue “maxicards,” and until this year (2021) I assumed “maxicards” just meant really big postcards. 🤷🏻‍♂️😂

MY HOMETOWN

Winter Park is part of Orlando, famous for Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, SeaWorld and Kennedy Space Center, as well as world-class shopping, dining, nightlife and arts & entertainment.

Winter Park’s Park Avenue is a real life “Main Street USA,” compete with shops, restaurants, cafes, inns, farmer’s market, museums, central park, train station, art and music festivals, and a scenic boat tour through lakes, canals and stately homes.

Florida is a large and diverse state full of nature, art, history and culture, not just theme parks and beaches. St. Augustine is the oldest city in the 50 states, North Florida is full of Southern charm and hospitality, Cape Canaveral is the only place that man has left Earth to set foot on the Moon, and Florida Reef is the third largest coral barrier reef in the world.

Happy Postcrossing!

P.S. While not customary, you may notice a small label with my return address. I am NOT asking for a card in return. This is strictly for postal use only in case the card is undeliverable, and yes, I’ve had cards returned and been able to successfully try again.
