I work in a program that seeks to improve math & science education from kindergarten to college, particularly in a region of the U.S. called Appalachia (along the Appalachian Mountains). It is an impoverished rural area where coal mining is a main industry. Many of the families in that region are descendants of Scottish and Irish settlers. Because it is so remote and difficult to access, the communities there have a distinctive culture and traditions. One of the most well-known is Bluegrass Music.

I would love to hear about your town or region. What is special about it? Does it have the world's biggest piano or the stinkiest cheese or the tallest building? Do you have strange festivals where you throw tomatoes at each other once a year like the Spaniards? Or race beds (or even bulls) down the middle of the street, or other interesting customs?

I am not too picky about the cards, I'll be happy with something representing your country or city. But if you would like more specific guidelines, I do like:

-beautiful landscape photography, nature scenes, and natural wonders, B&W photos too
-artwork from famous artists of your region
-photos of famous authors or scientists from your homeland
-illustrations of famous stories from your region
-elephants, owls, donkeys, jackalope
-ecological themes
-religious art, religious clothing, religious traditions, especially buddhism, shintoism, hinduism, judaism, but others are interesting too
-traditional clothing, jewelry, art from your area
-vintage ads, vintage postcards/photos
-interesting buildings/architecture--modern or ancient
