My name is Joe Hawkins. I live in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. I am retired from Phillips Petroleum Company. My wife and I travel a lot, mostly in the USA and Canada. In 2010, we traveled 1,500 miles by train across the Rocky Mountains from California to Chicago, Illinois. We visited Arizona and Western Texas in the winter. We visited Washington and Oregon in the late spring; Yellowstone National Park in the summer; the Canadian provinces of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Prince Edward Island in the late summer; and the state of Michigan in October for the fall colors. We got to experience our first hurricane while visiting New Brunswick.

In 2011, we visited South Texas in February; Kentucky in April; Montana and the Canadian province of Alberta in the late spring; Missouri and Arkansas in July; Colorado in August; Montana in September; North Carolina in October; and Texas in November and December.

In 2012 we took five trips to Texas, one to Nebraska, and one to Kentucky. In June we took our two granddaughters to Washington, D.C. We went to Colorado for two weeks in July. We visited Alabama in September. We greatly enjoyed a three week trip to Colorado and Wyoming including a ride on the Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad during the awesome fall colors.

I have also done some international travel on business trips before I retired. I have been to South Vietnam, Japan, England, Norway, Belgium, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait.

My second favorite hobby is bird watching. I look for new birds everywhere we travel. I have recorded 342 different species so far.

I also enjoy looking at and riding trains.

My favorite TV shows are The Good Wife, The Big Bang Theory, Jeopardy, The Mentalist, Castle, and NCIS.

I read a lot. Some of my favorite books are the series about The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Joe Pickett series by C. J. Box, and books by W. E. B. Griffin. I have recently read two series of books about police detectives in Sweden and Norway.

I am interested in learning about other countries in general: culture, geography, scenic beauty, people, city life, architecture, and history. Postcards about those topics as well as birds would be appreciated. Any card about your country or region will be fine.
