About Janneke...

I am ever so sorry, but I am not able to scan any postcards - haven't got the equipment for it :(

Hello postcrossers!

To let you know a little about me:

My hobbies are walking; music (Bob Dylan, pop, folk, rock, chansons); reading (historical novels, detectives); watching + reading detective series (British and Scandinavian especially); (learning/speaking/reading) languages; playing the (German) flute; doing jig-saw puzzles; crocheting; colours and colouring. I like cartoons and cartoon figures (Swedish Hälge) - my favourite Disney character is Donald Duck. Love autumn, love snow, love Christmas. London is my all time favourite city; Sweden and England my favourite two countries.

I try to follow the world's news, and am very much in favour of a united European community. A democracy with a free press, with all its flaws, is, in my opinion, the only sensible way to live with a lot of different people on this small planet. It is beyond me how people - even governments - can think that a nationality, a country, a people, a colour, a race, gender, sexual preference, a religion, or whatever - out of so many - should make them superior to any other. Let's all try to make conversation, not war; let others be; share what is there, and be a little tolerant, show a little humour. Everything else will prove - has indeed proved! - to be very dangerous. More people should join projects like postcrossing...;)

I am married, with two grown-up children, one little grandson; taught English for 37 years (12/18-year-olds), and have been on early retirement since August 2013. Will now concentrate on an educational research project at Groningen University (2 days a week)and leisure activities, one of which is postcrossing, of course ;)

I would love to receive cards showing: autumn or winter scenes; cartoon figures; black and white illustrations; Christmas cards in December. However, they should relate to YOUR OWN COUNTRY: showing your own ways and culture is all part of the postcrossing fun (I think). Then, if you told me something about it on the back side, it would be perfect!

Still: whatever card (however, please NO religious cards) you put into the mailbox, the most important thing is the idea that someone unknown sends an old-fashioned postcard with an old-fashioned stamp on it. It's exciting, mysterious, and fun! I'll do the same for you - choosing cards for unknown recipients is just as fun!

Thank you very much in advance!
