Around the world postcard project for peace and friendship
I am planning to organize a postcard exhibition in Iran from postcards I will receive from all over the world. For this, I need your help and I do hope that you can participate by sending a postcard from your country. In return, I will send you a nice postcard from Iran.
To participate in this project, I ask you to translate in your native language, the following poem and write it in the back of the postcard that you’ll send to me. The poem is by Saadi- one of the major Persian poets and literary individuals of the medieval period. It is inscribed on the entrance of the United Nations Building and attests to the universality of peace and human friendship.
Human beings are members of a whole
In creation of one essence and soul
If one member is afflicted with pain
Other members uneasy will remain
If you have no sympathy for human pain
The name of human you can not retain
So as such, please select an appropriate postcard from your country and write the translation of the above poem in the back of the postcard, stamped¬ and mail it to me. Thank you for your help and participation.
