About Olga...

Hi!

Most of my free time I spend on the road (no wonder I'm a big fan of Kerouac), because traveling is the best thing in the world. Other hobbies - yoga, skiing and snowboarding. I am interested in wild nature (very fond of mountains and ocean life), rock-n-roll music and science - just defended my PhD in genetics and I also do some teaching at local university (molecular biology). I enjoy daydreaming and solving difficult problems. I have a thing for space-related stuff, trains, planes and submarines.

Apart from travelling and sports I enjoy reading, movies and series. Most of my favourite books are fantasy or sci-fi: Harry Potter, Roger Zelazny's "The Chronicles of Amber", JRR Tolkien, " A Song of Ice and Fire" series, Tove Jansson and Terry Pratchett.
I'm fond of anime and manga as well. Favourites:
a) One Piece (just what I always wanted to do - travel with my friends around the world, experience adventures and do silly things;
b)Cowboy Bebop - the soundtrack hardly ever leaves my car's audio system and I wish I had a chance to pilot Swordfish II, such a beautiful spacecraft she is. (I wish I had a chance to be Spike, but that's even more complicated, I suppose.)

I also appreciate Mad Men, House MD, BBC's Sherlock, and I'm a huge Top Gear fan (I adore cars, driving and men with good sense of humour). "Yes, minister" and "Black Books" are the funniest series I've ever seen in my life. Movies - Inception (finally an original work and a blockbuster that is really exciting and interesting, or maybe Nolan simply got a bunch of handsome men in nice suits there, really), Quentin Tarantino movies, samurai movies, Sergio Leone's spaghetti westerns, Hayao Miyazaki's works.

I joined postcrossing because I like receiving mail and because it makes me understand that there are millions of people in the world living in different places and they are actually real. Even if I'm never going to meet you in person, I still know you exist, because I am holding the card you've sent in my hand. That's quite a strange realisation.

Probably, you could skip all that stuff above.

I'd be very glad to receive cards with:

-different types of landscape (mountains and sea)
-wild birds - and not only the colourful and conventionally cute ones (to me all birds are cute)
-trains, airplanes or cars; subway maps
-anything concerning my favorite books and series (see above, a Moomin card is always a good choice)
-outer space- stars, galaxies, planets, spacecraft are more than welcome
-any strange pictures (T-Rex in a top hat, anyone?)
- anything science-related (Charles Darwin!)
- Banksy and ingenious street art in general
-if by chance you find smth like a card with xkcd webcomics I'll be really grateful.
-llamas, alpacas, camels and yaks.
-black-and-white photos.
And never forget about city views!

But I am looking forward to anything you wish to send. It's the wonder of receiving mail that matters.

Good luck to everyone!
