About Ahmad...
From Cairo, living in Berlin with my family for a while.
I love postcards and stamps, as well as maps. I've been sending postcards to friends and family from every city I travelled to since 2003; that's a couple dozens . I used the postcards as my globally distributed travel diary.
Being both a philatelist and cybernaut, I had discovered postcrossing.com soon after it came to being, but I'm just beginning to give it a try now, that I'm living in Germany.
For me, postcards are fixed with a postal stamp, franked in a post office somewhere in world, and sent without an envelope; ones that made the journey.
I believe that any postcard one sends must pass the test of their own taste: be a card that you would actually like to keep.
Write whatever comes to your mind, what you are doing or just did, where you are, a secret, a confession..
I like all postcards, so send a card that you like. If you'd like a hint:
◉ cards you can only get in special occasions, venues, museums, etc where you've been to
◉ scenes from daily life, street photography, and graffiti
◉ abandoned places, ruins, things that no longer exist.
◉ Maxi cards
◉ themes of travel: boats, trains, aeroplanes, caravans, hiking, etc
◉ themes of post and mail and their history
◉ traditional motifs, patterns, and calligraphy
◉ space/cosmos, as well science fiction, retro-future and steampunk themes
◉ vintage cards..real old ones from the flee market!
◉ risqué, scandalous and artful nude
◉ vintage political propaganda
◉ natural formations and wildlife, macrophotography, and people in nature
◉ monuments and landmarks where the sender has actually been to, posted at the nearest mailbox.
◉ artfully handcrafted cards, ONLY WHEN fixed with a stamp and posted without an envelope.
◉ an unexpected classical painting
☹ War is hateful.
Aus Deutschland würde ich Sandmann-Postkarten, Fotografien von Klaus Ender oder Gemälde von Heinrich Zille schätzen.
