About Svetlana...

Hello!

My name is Eta, I'm 39, I live in downtown Moscow and I work in science. I do biology at the University, looking through the microscope at various cool things and enjoying it immensely. On the odd occasion I translate for a patent firm. I love patent applications, it's science written in legalese, so funny.

I dabble in yoga, not seriously enough to wear Om buttons, but yes, a few years of compact personal practice, and I'm loving it.

I love modern art, baroque music, evolutionary psychology and history of Early Christianity, but my true passion is British crime TV series! Love them, pure genius. I participate in Shakespeare read-throughs over Skype ("Social Shakespeare"), and love reading for villains! I have read for Lady Macbeth and Shylock and very much looking forward to Iago. Also: forever wanderer in Middle-earth, a fringe member of the Armitage Army. Not entirely Sherlocked, but rather Watsoned. #buckybarnesbrokemyheart.

I love rats! Rats make wonderful pets, I kept them for years and I was never once disappointed. Wonderful optimistic personalities, all of them. Now I have a rescued lab guinea pig who is a bit of a misanthrope. Totally lovely-looking thing though, and has a funny squeal to boot.

Please tell me something about yourself, a fun fact about yourself maybe, or the place where you live, or if anything interesting happened to you recently, or if something blew your mind away (a movie? a performance? a TV show? a painting? a place?) - I'd love to know! I always read the message on the card first, before looking at the picture even.

However, if you're wondering what to send, here are examples of what I'd be happy to see in my mailbox, in no particular order:

- modern-ish art (say from about 1850s onwards);
- design (posters, labels and packaging, fabrics, jewellery, pottery, engines);
- children's illustrations, comics, cartoons, cave drawings;
- ad cards, especially for theatre or art exhibits;
- fan art, especially Tolkien and MCU fan art;
- rodents of all shapes and sizes;
- bats;
- insects, especially grasshoppers and praying mantisses;
- biplanes, small planes, helicopters;
- bicycles;
- ghosts, zombies, ETs;
- landscapes and cityscapes.

Cards that will definitely make me squeal in delight:
- photos by Jacque-Henry Lartigue and William Eggleston;
- paintings by Hundertwasser, Edward Hopper, Hieronimus Bosch and Francisco Goya;
- the Bayeux tapestry;
- fantastic beasts from illuminated medieval manuscripts.

But really, any and all postcards are much appreciated!

Thank you and happy postcrossing!

Eta.
