About Florence...

Hello fellow postcrossers!

I started this account for my mother, Florence, who is a retired teacher in her 60s. She has a lot of time now, so I thought it would be nice if she got some postcards from all over the world. =)

She likes travelling and has been to many countries. So I suppose she will like postcards that have country pictures, landmarks, etc on them. But feel free to send any postcard that you think is suitable for a woman in her mid-60s. She is a conservative person who likes comedy (humour), music, theatre and drama. She now also acts in plays and TV shows.

She likes it a lot when children write to her (she was a primary school teacher for 40 years!), and she always appreciates receiving hand-made or hand-drawn postcards. It doesn't matter if you are good at drawing or not - it's the thought that counts. =) She also likes self-printed postcards and postcards that are self-taken photos - she finds these very interesting and unique. =)

If possible, please do not send any postcard with nudity. =)

Feel free to write whatever you wish, especially about your own life, like what you are doing, your daily routine, your hobbies, etc. My mother used to volunteer as a social worker with the Samaritans of Singapore, so she likes reading about personal stories. You can also talk about your country or the postcard you have sent.

She will also appreciate it if you can say something in your native language and explain what it means. My mother knows a little French - she took classes when she was in her 20s! =D

NOTE: If you would like your postcard picture to appear, please upload it before you send it, because I usually don't get a chance to photograph the postcards my mother receives (we don't live together - she only gives me the postcard-ID and I register it for her).

*** I send out all the postcards on this account for my mother (she is not good with the computer), so please don't be surprised if you receive a postcard signed by me. =)

*** All messages sent to this account come to me. My mother does not manage this account at all - she only receives the postcards. =)

*** AMUSING FACT: My mother used to have lots of penpals when she was young (in the 1950s-60s)! She passed me a box containing all the letters and postcards she had received over the years, and I looked through every single one of them - it took me several days! It was so interesting to see black and white photos (in those days!) of her penpals back then! She also used to collect stamps, and I found tons of them stored inside envelopes, including first day covers and special issue stamps. I even found (and read of course!) many letters that my father wrote to my mother before they married!!! =P

Many thanks in advance from me, for sending a card to my mother! =)

My own postcrossing account is here:

I have a huge stash of many kinds of postcards and am available for private swaps if you wish.

Cheers! =)
