About Emily...
Hello! My name is Emily. I'm back in my home state of Minnesota, but I recently lived in Wisconsin for college and Idaho for a year of AmeriCorps (the U.S. domestic version of the Peace Corps). In Idaho, I served survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. I am getting my Master's degree in Holocaust and Genocide Studies, and I work full-time in academic advising at a local college.
I love sending and receiving mail; Postcrossing allows me to learn all about the world without ever leaving my house! I like to read nonfiction and murder mysteries/thrillers -- I read 110 books last year! Feel free to write down a book recommendation of yours -- I'd love to hear it! My favorite animals are snails, frogs, tortoises, cockatoos, and ducks. I am an avid blood donor, and I hope to donate a kidney one day. I am excited to hear from you and your country!
My favorite postcards are those with views of animals, art, something happy, or of your country/typical tourist postcards, but any postcard you send I will love! It’s what is written that matters most anyway. :-) I'd be extra excited if you'd be willing to draw a snail along with your message on your postcard :D
I have a scratch-off map hanging on the wall of my room, and I color in the countries when I receive mail from them -- so far, I have colored in 136 countries/territories/places! The link in my bio is a news story my local TV station did on me and my mail quest :)
