About Jane...

Hello, my name is Jane. I am 23 years old and live in a suburb of Detroit, Michigan, in the USA. I just received my BFA in Graphic Design. I have a strong interest in fiber & paper arts.

I am interested in art, design, music, and food. I speak English and can read German (though I don't speak it well anymore).

If you are artistically inclined, or even if you don't think you're good at drawing, could you please send me a little doodle?

Ideas for what to write:
What do you like to do in your free time?
What's your favorite food? Movie? Book? Artist?
What are your interests?
Write something in your native language if you'd like, and tell me what it means!

*** I ADORE handmade cards and I would be DELIGHTED to receive them. I like them with or without envelopes. Decorate the envelope if you'd like. Go nuts! Art is freedom! I like non-handmade cards too, but only if they have some PERSONALITY! :) ****

Things I like:

- graphic design/typography, especially hand-drawn type & vintage signage

- Volga German/Deutsch. my mom's side of the family came a long time ago from Norka, Russia. If you are able to send me a card relating to this, I will be very, very excited.

- cats/kittens, dogs/puppies, really any animals, especially baby animals and woodland creatures (i love squirrels, skunks, otters, mice, foxes, deer, monkeys, birds, pandas, goats, creepy deep-sea fish, snails, sloths, weird caterpillars, pretty much anything!)

- art nouveau and art deco, any art in general is awesome. i love drawings/illustrations the best. I love American New Deal/WPA-era posters and stuff.

- Mucha, Rivera, Kahlo, Frank Lloyd Wright, Durer, Dali (just received a card with Le Bateau and I'm looking for other works by him.)

- woodcuts, etchings, engravings, lino cuts, hand-carved stamps

- matroyshka dolls (Russian nesting dolls)

- feminism, girl power, LGBTQ rights

- vintage, strange, weird, unusual cards

- vegetables and fruit, mushrooms, ferns, especially illustrations. taxonomy stuff is cool. food-themed cards are really neat, especially when they feature ethnic foods from your home country.

- classic retro cards with a prominent place name or state/country map. please no tacky multiviews.

- I love metallic stamps/cards and embossed stuff. I love color in general, so the more colorful, the better! jewel tones are my fave. :)

- space/stars/planets/spaceships/astronauts. 2001: Space Odyssey!

- yoga, bicycling, hiking, walking

- Alex Grey art or other kind of "trippy" stuff like that, mandalas, kaleidoscopes

- food (especially Japanese, Indian, Thai, Vietnamese, Korean, Bangladeshi.) recipe cards.

- marimekko, amy butler, or other fabric prints (this is a big interest of mine. i love the marimekko flowers)

- folk art (esp. scandinavian), native peoples, native dress

- cute stuff like hello kitty

- vintage fashion, vintage cards in general

- stickers, embellishments

I like postcards as well as folded notecards in envelopes.

STAY WEIRD!
